Getting Here — Discovery Harbour Marina, Campbell River
50 North Adventures operates from Discovery Harbour Marina in Campbell River, BC. This is where every fishing charter, whale watching tour, and private boat charter begins. Here is everything you need to know before you arrive.
Where to Find Us
We are located at Dock C, Discovery Harbour Marina in Campbell River. The marina sits along the waterfront just north of the BC Ferries terminal.
Important: There are three marinas in Campbell River, and they are easy to mix up. Discovery Harbour Marina is not the same as Fisherman’s Wharf (at the pier) or Discovery Coast Marina (beside the ferry terminal). Discovery Harbour Marina is located a few hundred metres north of the ferry terminal.
Landmarks to look for: If you can see the McDonald’s and Tim Hortons, you are in the right spot. The marina entrance is right there.
Parking
Free parking is available at the southern end of the marina off Roberts Beach Road, or directly across the road from McDonald’s. There is also a paid parking section within the marina grounds, so check the signs posted before you park to avoid a fine. RV parking is available in the free lot.
When You Arrive
Once you park, head to the marina and look for Dock C. Our office — the “Aussie Shack” — is right on the dock, so you will find us easily. No more meeting in the car park or looking for someone in a black cap at the top of the ramp.
If you arrive early, the marina area is a nice spot to stretch your legs and take in the harbour views before your trip.
What to Bring
- Dress in layers for a day on the water — the weather on Vancouver Island can change quickly
- A jacket is always a good idea, even on sunny days
- Running shoes or bare feet are best on the boat — please avoid heavy hiking boots with hard soles
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat
- A camera — you will want it
- Food and drinks are welcome on board (alcohol is allowed in moderation)
- Your BC Tidal/Saltwater Fishing License if you are joining a fishing charter or combined fishing and whale watching tour — this must be purchased online before you arrive
